Ubisoft is actively integrating generative AI into future games. The company expects to make NPCs more realistic and reduce development costs, but initial tests of the technology have already faced harsh criticism.

According to Ubisoft's financial report, the publisher is betting on generative AI to create more vibrant worlds and NPCs capable of dynamically reacting to player actions. The technology is being developed by the internal La Forge division, and experiments codenamed Teammates are expected to open a new stage in the development of interactive games.

Against this backdrop, Ubisoft is experiencing a serious financial crisis. The company reported operating losses of over one billion euros, which led to cost cutting, layoffs, and the cancellation of seven projects.

However, the publisher is not going to abandon AI. Ubisoft believes that the technology will help reduce production costs and add new mechanics to the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon series.
