Recently, a new campaign to "cancel" developers and publishers began in the gaming community. This time, it was the remake of the first "Gothic" that got hit.

The release of Gothic 1 Remake is scheduled for June 5, but some have already managed to get their hands on a physical edition of the game. Soon, a post appeared on the "Does it play?" account, which tracks the launch features of various games:

Cancel your pre-orders! Gothic Remake does not launch in offline mode. THQ is hiding this information from buyers! No proper marking on the packaging. No warning on the store page. This was discovered thanks to a copy of the game sent early by the official THQ store.

Attached to the post was a screenshot of Gothic 1 Remake with the message "Cannot verify game status. Please make sure you are connected to the internet and try again."

Soon, the official Gothic franchise account on the social network responded to this post — playing the "Gothic" remake will not require an internet connection, but a patch will need to be downloaded at launch (it will be available on release day):

For us, the most important thing is that people can play at the moment of release, on the appointed date and time. To ensure this, we sent out physical copies in advance. Gothic 1 Remake will require a download of about 5 GB on release day, after which it can be played completely offline — a constant internet connection is not required.
