The HBO series "Lanterns" is already preparing for its second season production. There is no official announcement from Warner Bros. yet, but insiders and the creators themselves indicate that a continuation is definitely coming: the writing room has already started working to avoid a long pause between releases.
This became known after a funny "leak" on social media. Christopher Cantwell posted a photo of a green ring, which sparked a wave of rumors, and later confirmed that he had indeed joined the second season's team as a writer and executive producer.
On television, Cantwell is known as the co-creator of the AMC drama "Halt and Catch Fire," as well as a writer for the series "The Terror" and "Paper Girls." In the superhero genre, he is also no stranger: the author has written scripts for Marvel and DC comics for years, including stories about Batman, Superman, Iron Man, and Thanos.
Personnel changes are due to the busy schedules of the first season's creators. Damon Lindelof is leaving to direct an adaptation of the thriller "The Chain" for HBO, and Tom King will focus on a secret project within James Gunn's revamped cinematic universe.
The premiere of the first season of "Lanterns" is scheduled for August 16, 2026, on HBO and HBO Max.
