Recently, Bungie announced the cessation of content support for Destiny 2. This decision greatly upset the project's fans.
Former Destiny 2 writer Robert Brookes noticed this news and decided to speak out on social media — in his opinion, the ex-head of Bungie is to blame for the game's "death":
The real "Destiny killer" was Pete Parsons.
Brookes was one of many Bungie employees who were laid off in the summer of 2024. At the time, he wrote:
After almost five years, creating seasonal storylines from "Hunt" to "Deep" and releasing the most successful expansion in our history — "Final Shape", I was laid off, and today is my last day at Bungie.
The writer mentioned Pete Parsons left Bungie last year — some players were very happy about this news. Users noted that the manager spent millions of dollars on buying cars, while the company he then led conducted several rounds of layoffs.
Robert Brookes did not remain unemployed — he joined the CD Projekt RED team and is now a senior quest designer for Cyberpunk 2.
Destiny 2 servers are not closing yet — a "final update" will be released in June, and the developers will ensure that the project remains playable thereafter. Some fans of the looter-shooter are now leaving negative reviews for another Bungie game: Marathon has been hit on Steam.
