In mid-May, the underwater survival game Subnautica 2 was released. A user under the nickname timg528 said that he is playing the new game from Unknown Worlds Entertainment in an underwater hotel.
Jules Undersea Lodge is located in Key Largo, Florida, USA, and to get into it, you need to dive with scuba gear to a depth of about 7.5 meters and then surface in a “pool.”
timg528 clarified that this was not a special trip “for Subnautica 2” — he had planned it long ago and only learned about the game's release when he was already about to set off.
The gamer published several photos — the game is running on a laptop placed in front of the window:
Some community members immediately had a question about the smell. timg528 explained that it's difficult to describe such a “marine” smell:
I guess you could imagine the smell of mold mixed with a slight smell of water. I know it sounds a bit strange, but my main experience is with boats in the Chesapeake Bay, which has its own distinctive smell.
He noted that the smell is most noticeable in the central room with the pool because there is no direct air conditioning and dehumidification there. However, in the side rooms, it is much weaker because there is direct air conditioning. According to timg528, he stopped noticing the smell after a few minutes. The hotel has electricity and Wi-Fi.
