Ichijinsha publishing house announced the adaptation of Tomo Nagawa's manga "Do You Want to Be a Tanuki?". The creators showed the first teaser trailer and visuals for the upcoming series, and viewers are already comparing the project to Studio Ghibli's works – in particular, "Pom Poko" and "The Tale of the Princess Kaguya". The new release offers a similar combination of picturesque visual style, unhurried pace, and the theme of emotional healing.

The story centers on Koganemaru, a mystical tanuki. He finds people overwhelmed by difficult life circumstances, depression, or personal tragedies, and offers them to become tanuki to live a carefree life in the forest. The creators promise that this story will "relax your frozen heart."

The production is handled by Nippon Animation, which gave the world classic animated series based on famous literature, including "Maya the Bee", "Anne of Green Gables", and "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer".

The director is Jun Kamiya, director of the first season of "Kingdom" and key animator for "Hikaru no Go". The script is written by Masaki Wachi, and the music is by Minako Seki.

The premiere date for "Do You Want to Be a Tanuki?" has not yet been revealed.
