Dragon Quest gets a new curator - fans await news on the twelfth installment
Producer Yosuke Saito confirmed that he now oversees two internal Square Enix divisions, including the team responsible for the Dragon Quest series. Amidst the prolonged development of Dragon Quest XII, this is seen as an important signal for the future of the franchise.
Although Dragon Quest remains in the shadow of Final Fantasy, recent months have shown that interest in the series is still high, especially after the release of several remakes that helped bring attention back to the franchise.
During his speech at BitSummit, Saito revealed that he controls the work of Square Enix Creative Studio 4 and Creative Studio 5.
Creative Studio 4 is responsible for the numbered Dragon Quest installments and Dragon Quest X Online. Creative Studio 5 handles the NieR, Mana, Romancing SaGa series, Team Asano projects, and Killer Inn.
Amidst Square Enix's financial situation, it is speculated online that the company may make the development of Dragon Quest XII one of its top priorities. The game was announced several years ago, but since then, it has barely appeared in the news.
