Generative AI and other artificial intelligence technologies are not yet helping the gaming industry reduce the colossal development budgets. This was stated by Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick in a recent interview with CNBC.
According to the executive, technological development in the entertainment industry historically does not lead to cost reduction. On the contrary, new tools allow developers to create more ambitious projects, and with that, costs also increase.
Zelnick noted that technological progress indeed increases the efficiency of studios, but at the same time, the creative capabilities of teams also expand. As a result, developers want to make larger games, and the audience expects an increasingly higher level of quality and content.
The head of Take-Two emphasized that the only area of entertainment where technology has truly reduced production costs is the music industry. In the gaming industry, in his opinion, the situation is developing differently.
He also reminded that the company's success is built on creating outstanding projects capable of attracting millions of players worldwide.
