IO Interactive announced that pre-loading for 007 First Light has started on PlayStation 5.
Notably, the pre-load for the spy action game is essentially a Sony exclusive, as players on Xbox Series X|S and personal computers will have to wait for the release — including owners of expanded editions.
IOI immediately apologized for the "ambiguous communication" surrounding the pre-load issue.
It is assumed that the decision is related to IO Interactive's concerns about potential leaks. In recent months, several major releases, including Subnautica 2 and Directive 8020, have faced material leaks through PC versions. An additional risk for Xbox could be the Play Anywhere system, which allows supported games to run on both console and PC.
The full release of 007 First Light will take place on May 27.
