The analytical agency GfK has published fresh data on video game retail sales in the UK for the week ending May 23, 2026. The main triumph was the action-adventure game LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight, which debuted directly at the top of the national chart.
Second place went to Microsoft's racing hit — Forza Horizon 6. For the Xbox ecosystem, this is a colossal success in physical retail: on its native platform, Microsoft's internal studios haven't had such a strong start in the British retail chart since the release of Starfield in 2023. After that, Bethesda's space RPG only returned to the top of sales after the release of the PlayStation 5 version in April of this year.
This is due to the fact that a significant part of the Xbox audience prefers to buy games digitally: the younger Xbox Series S model, which accounts for most of the current-generation Xbox consoles sold, lacks a disc drive, and projects from Microsoft's internal studios are available on Xbox Game Pass from release.
