The new CEO of Remedy Entertainment, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, tried to reassure the studio's fans who fear that his past at Electronic Arts might negatively affect the future of the creators of Alan Wake and Control. In an interview with The Game Business, the top manager stated that he was chosen precisely because he understands Remedy's uniqueness and is not going to change its "DNA".
Gaudechon took over as director in February 2026, replacing Tero Virtala, who left the company after the financial failure of FBC: Firebreak. According to the new head, he perfectly understands players' concerns due to his almost five years of work in EA's management.
I understand people's fears: will someone from EA bring large corporate methods and destroy the soul of a studio like Remedy? But I was chosen precisely because I understand what Remedy is. It's a unique studio with incredible creative energy.
He noted that a certain "chaos" in the studio's work has always been part of its features, and it was thanks to this that unusual games appeared. At the same time, the head of the company believes that Remedy has not yet realized its full potential.
Remedy is already one of the largest game developers with very recognizable projects. But having seen everything from the inside, I realized that we can give much more – even stronger stories, crazy ideas, and unique gameplay.
Gaudechon particularly emphasized that the studio is not going to move into free-to-play and mobile service games for the sake of trends. According to him, Remedy will primarily develop its own franchises like Alan Wake 2 and Control.
