Scammers capitalize on Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream's success with fakes on Google Play

The life simulator Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was released exclusively on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 in April 2026 and sold almost 4 million copies in two weeks. Such success attracted unscrupulous mobile game developers: several fake applications masquerading as the official Nintendo release were found on Google Play.

Currently, two main clones are active in the store: My Tomodachi Dream Life and Tomodachi Life Living the Dream. The creators of these projects brazenly copied official promotional materials, screenshots, and logos of the Nintendo Switch exclusive to confuse the audience.

Both clones have already surpassed 50,000 downloads each. Moreover, these projects include monetization: in-app purchases range from $9.99 to $54.99.

These projects have been available on Google Play since mid-May. Their removal is likely a matter of time if Nintendo intervenes, as has happened with similar clones of successful games.
