Grand Theft Auto VI fans have discovered a strange detail in GTA Online, which is already being called a possible hint at a mechanic from Rockstar's upcoming game. This time, players' attention was drawn to the mention of vehicle VIN numbers – a system that was not and is not present in GTA V and GTA Online.
Reddit user Ok-Oil-8903 reported noticing unusual text while customizing a Coquette D10. Instead of the standard sun strip description, information about the car's VIN code suddenly appeared in the menu. The text stated that the VIN is a unique vehicle identification number, but for this particular car, it was allegedly removed.
The strange thing is that this description only appeared for one car. The player clarified that they received the car through Chop Shop about a week ago. When attempting to modify other cars, including the same model, the mysterious text no longer appeared.
The community quickly linked the discovery to old GTA VI leaks that emerged back in 2022. At that time, insiders claimed that Rockstar would seriously rework the crime and wanted system. According to rumors, witnesses would be able to report the player's and vehicle's descriptions to the police, and cars themselves would be tracked even after a successful escape.
Against this background, the idea of VIN numbers seems logical. If the police can indeed identify vehicles by registration data, players will likely have to change numbers, get rid of the car, or remove identifiers to avoid pursuit.
It is not yet possible to guarantee a connection between the discovery and GTA VI. It is possible that this is a forgotten test element, remnants of cut content, or a simple placeholder for a future GTA Online update.
