The series "Spider-Noir," starring Nicolas Cage in the lead role, has premiered on Prime Video. All eight episodes of the season are now available for viewing.

The project offers an alternative take on Spider-Man through the story of Ben Reilly — a world-weary private detective with a troubled past, who tracks down criminals in 1930s New York during the Great Depression.

According to the plot, the former superhero becomes embroiled in an investigation connected to the influential crime boss Silvermane, played by Brendan Gleeson.

The series also stars Lamorne Morris, Li Jun Li, Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, and Jack Huston. It is produced by Sony Pictures Television for MGM+ and Prime Video. The first episodes were directed by Harry Bradbeer, known for "Killing Eve" and "Enola Holmes." Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who previously worked on "The Punisher," served as showrunners.

The specialized press has already reviewed the new release and met the project with predominantly positive reception. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series debuted with a 92% "fresh" rating based on 48 reviews, and on Metacritic, it received a score of 72 out of 100.
