The "Game of Thrones" franchise has always been famous for epic battles, intrigues, and betrayals, but the third season of "House of the Dragon" is preparing to raise the bar for battle scenes even higher. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Ryan Condal stated that the Battle of the Gullet will be, perhaps, "the craziest episode ever made for television."

Condal compared the scale of the upcoming battle to the legendary Battle of Helm's Deep from Peter Jackson's film "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers." According to him, the episode was the culmination of "four years of searching" for how to bring a large-scale confrontation at sea and in the air to life. The creators doubted until the last minute whether they could meet such a high standard, even with the series' huge budget, but in the end, HBO agreed to allocate additional funds.

“To try and tell this story without the Battle of the Gullet is like doing 'The Lord of the Rings' without Helm’s Deep. If we were going to do it, we had to do it right. And that means: dragons, ships, and multiple theaters of war at once.”

The premiere of the third season of "House of the Dragon" will take place on HBO Max on June 21, 2026, and the final episode will be released on August 9.
