Fortnite's Triumphant Return to iOS Brings 3.4 Million Downloads in a Week
The mobile version of Fortnite is experiencing its biggest surge in popularity since 2018.
Fortnite's global return to the App Store, which took place on May 19 after a six-year absence, has been a major success. According to a fresh report from AppMagic, the game garnered 3.4 million downloads in its first week after the global release. This is the battle royale's best seven-day result on iOS since its original mobile launch in 2018.
The main drivers of growth were regions where the game finally emerged from the "Apple ban": Saudi Arabia brought 474 thousand downloads, France — 366 thousand, the UK — 307 thousand. At its peak, daily downloads soared by 1408%, almost breaking the game's historical record.
Recall that Epic Games brought Fortnite back to iPhones and iPads worldwide, including Russia, amidst ongoing legal disputes with Apple. The only major market where the game still remains blocked for now is Australia: there, developers are awaiting a separate court decision on payment systems.
