Frontier Developments announced Planet Zoo 2. The zoo management simulator will be released on October 13 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (on Steam and Epic Games Store).
Planet Zoo 2 will be a continuation of the popular series and will offer players the opportunity to build and develop unique zoos around the world. One of the main innovations will be fully aquatic and flying animal species, which will appear in the series for the first time.
The developers promise a wide variety of animals with individual needs and behaviors. Familiar species will return to the game, including the African lion and the Western chimpanzee, and new inhabitants will appear. Special attention is paid to realistic animation, animal emotionality, and their interaction with the environment — from herd behavior to feeding on vegetation in enclosures.
Planet Zoo 2 will also debut full-fledged aquariums with freshwater and marine inhabitants. Players will be able to create huge tanks for various species of fish, blacktip reef sharks, hawksbill sea turtles, and other aquatic animals.
Another important feature will be aviaries for birds. The game will feature fully flying species, including the toco toucan and the secretarybird. Customizable enclosures with perches, barriers, and mesh domes can be built for them, allowing birds to move freely in the air.
In addition, Planet Zoo 2 will expand on the theme of nature conservation. Players will be able to release animals into large, customizable nature reserves, focusing on species and ecosystem protection.
