Marvel Animation has unveiled the first trailer for the second season of the animated series "X-Men '97" and announced the exact premiere date: the continuation will debut on Disney+ on July 1.
The second season will continue the story after a space-time shift that left the X-Men team separated and scattered across different eras. Cyclops and Jean Grey found themselves in the distant future – in the year 3960, while Magneto, Professor X, Beast, and others ended up in Ancient Egypt, where they encountered a younger version of Apocalypse.
The first season of the revival of the classic 90s show was a major success: it became one of Disney+'s most-watched animated projects, received an Emmy nomination, and earned 99% approval from critics and 91% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.
The show's performance so impressed Disney that "X-Men '97" was renewed for a third season back in October 2025. It was also announced then that new seasons are planned to be released annually, similar to "Daredevil: Born Again."
