Hideo Kojima Transforms into Pedro Pascal in "AI Slop" Shown at Cannes Film Festival

Hideo Kojima and director Nicolas Winding Refn have reunited after their collaboration on Death Stranding 2. The duo presented the sci-fi short film Satellites II, created for the fashion house Prada and dedicated to "new creative possibilities of AI technologies." The film, timed for an upcoming fashion show in New York, was screened at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

Although Refn seems pleased with the short film, calling it "a cosmic odyssey through a dream landscape," online users reacted sharply negatively to the project, dubbing it another "AI slop." Comments state that "it breaks one's heart to see great artists stoop to AI slop," and joke that in some shots, Hideo Kojima looks like he's "50% himself and 50% Pedro Pascal." Some users ask Kojima "not to get involved with this nonsense anymore" and fear that his fascination with AI could negatively impact the game designer's future games.
