Infinity Ward head Jack O'Hara stated that porting Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Nintendo Switch 2 went "quite smoothly". The new installment of the popular series will be the first game in the franchise to be released on a Nintendo platform in over a decade.
According to O'Hara, returning to Nintendo platforms was a special event for the studio.
It's great to be back on a Nintendo platform. It's always exciting to release a game on a new system, especially on a portable console.
The performance issue on Switch 2, according to the developers, does not cause serious difficulties. O'Hara noted that launching the game on the new console turned out to be almost seamless.
Frankly, everything went quite smoothly. We got the hardware, quickly launched the game, and now we are working on optimization and performance.
Infinity Ward also confirmed that the Switch 2 version supports cross-platform multiplayer. Internal tests showed that owners of the new Nintendo console can comfortably play together with users of other platforms.
