Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick stated that former Rockstar Games employees have not yet managed to create a project that can rival Grand Theft Auto in success.
According to Zelnick, many developers, including Rockstar veterans, have tried to release their own "GTA killers," but so far none of these games have been able to approach the level of popularity and commercial success of the Rockstar Games series. The executive emphasized that the key role is played not by technology, but by talent and creativity.
Many have tried. Many, many, including former Rockstar employees. So far, they haven't succeeded. That doesn't mean they won't in the future. We are always on guard. But it won't be technology that changes the industry. It will be truly talented and incredibly creative people who can create something amazing.
Mr. Zelnick also confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will be released in November 2026 — 13 years after the release of GTA V.
