Xbox announced the postponement of Fable to February 2027. The company made this announcement ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase, which will take place on June 7 as part of Summer Game Fest 2026.

According to Xbox, the additional time will allow the team to better polish the project. However, the postponement seems to be related not only to the need for further development of the game but also to the desire to avoid competition with Grand Theft Auto VI.

In an official statement, Xbox noted that the second half of 2026 will be extremely busy with major releases. The company listed its own projects, including Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, as well as anticipated third-party games — Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Grand Theft Auto VI.

Playground Games itself also commented on the postponement on the official Fable page on X. The developers acknowledged that the news might "disappoint" fans but added that it wouldn't be long before players return to Albion and can "make morally questionable decisions".
