The creators of Crashlands have turned a viral thought experiment into a full-fledged game.

Butterscotch Shenanigans studio has specified the release date for the mobile version of How Many Dudes? The autobattler roguelike will arrive on Android and iOS simultaneously with its Steam release — on July 30, 2026.

The developers took a thought experiment about how many ordinary men it would take to defeat one gorilla and turned it into a full-fledged game. Players will have to recruit and coordinate an ever-growing army of "dudes," sending them into battle against a variety of opponents. There will be 42 unit types available, distributed across six factions. In total, the developers claim over 850,000 squad combinations.

In addition to the notorious gorillas, the player's army will have to withstand the onslaught of crawling babies, packs of wild wolves, and even ancient gods. Besides the main campaign with three difficulty levels, How Many Dudes? will feature daily challenges called The Daily Dude and a special Ensemble Mode.

Pre-registration is already open on Google Play and the App Store, and a demo version of the project is available on Steam.
