"Our Voice Will Cut Through the Noise": Remedy Not Afraid to Release Control Resonant Alongside GTA VI

The release of the sci-fi action game Control Resonant still doesn't have a precise date, but the announced window of 2026 inevitably brings Remedy closer to GTA VI's "launch orbit." Many publishers prefer to stay away from the loudest release of the decade, but Remedy's new CEO, Jean-Charles Gaudechon, views the situation with cautious optimism.

In an interview with The Game Business, the head of the company stated that the studio is ready to play the long game and does not see Rockstar's project as a direct threat.

"I believe this year will lift the overall tide. It will bring more attention to the gaming industry than in previous years. Hopefully, GTA VI will help sell consoles and benefit everyone in the market."

According to Gaudechon, Remedy has long moved away from the classic model where a project's fate is decided in the first days after release. Now, studios have enough ways to ensure games have a "long tail" and maintain audience interest after launch. Instead of trying to avoid competition at all costs, Remedy plans to bet on its own identity and an unconventional approach to marketing.

"For us, it's much less important now to get all the invested money back in a few days. Today, there are many ways to ensure a game has a long life after release. It's going to be fun. You can expect the usual quality from us. You can expect our voice to cut through that noise. We will make ourselves heard as loudly as we can and hope to interest people. We are not going to play it safe."
