Diablo IV Gameplay to Be "Radically" Changed - Self-Sufficient Solo Mode Coming in Season 14
Developers are preparing to add a new game mode.
Blizzard Entertainment has begun to reveal details of the next big update for Diablo IV. Developers promise that the planned changes "will radically change the gameplay in both seasonal and eternal realms."
With the release of update 3.1.0 (Season 14), an SSF game mode will be added to the game. Solo Self Found (or "Self-Sufficient, Solo" in the Russian localization) will offer Diablo IV players to become truly "lone wanderers seeking a better life in Sanctuary."
Players who choose this game mode will have restrictions – they cannot join groups or trade items with other players, and also:
- Self-sufficient characters share their stash, currency, paragon levels, and more only with other self-sufficient characters on the player's account.
- Self-sufficient characters cannot access the free trial, couch co-op feature, and the Dark Citadel.
- Self-sufficient characters can only be seasonal (in normal or hardcore mode).
The developers clarified that if a character is made "self-sufficient," the player will not be able to reverse their decision until the end of the season. However, at the end of the season, self-sufficient characters will once again become "eternal" and will be able to group up or trade items.
Blizzard Entertainment will provide brave Diablo 4 players who choose the "Self-Sufficient, Solo" mode with access to an exclusive Tower leaderboard, where they can demonstrate their self-sufficiency (in normal or hardcore mode).
Before release, the Diablo IV 3.1.0 update will be tested on the PTR server – the test is expected to launch in early June.
