In May, the creators held a small promotional event as part of TwitchCon Rotterdam. Mojang Studios offered players the opportunity to add two capes to their collection.
For online viewers of the broadcast, the Builder Cape was prepared, while attendees of the offline event were offered a different cape model – the Crafter Cape. To obtain this cape, participants had to earn three stickers. These were given out for attending special panels and participating in various activities.
After collecting three stickers, an employee would verify the participant and then issue a unique code to receive the cape in Minecraft. It can be activated until June 30.
As is often the case, not only regular Minecraft players but also various entrepreneurs were able to obtain codes. Online, for example on eBay, advertisements for the sale of Crafter Cape activation codes began to appear – prices range from $200 to $1000+.
Some particularly savvy resellers started working in advance – they held pre-order auctions for activation codes, with the cost of such lots sometimes exceeding a thousand dollars.
Recently, a special Minecraft Live stream took place, during which Mojang Studios presented new features from the summer update Chaos Cubed. The game will add a mob that can be fed cubes to change its properties, as well as a new biome.
