Many players liked the concept of Romestead.

At the end of May, Romestead was released on PC via Steam. This adventure action game with survival elements from Beartwigs studio became one of the main hits of the Steam "Games to Be 2026" demo festival.

You can play alone or in a group of up to 8 players. The events unfold in a world where a mysterious cataclysm occurred, which "turned the former glory of Rome into ruins, and its inhabitants into wandering husks." Players are invited to create new settlements, farms, workshops, engage in crafting and city decoration to increase the happiness level of residents:

After the fall of Rome, the gods lost their worshipers, and with them, their powers. Make offerings and sacrifices, then decide with your friends which of the celestials to restore to their former glory. Each god grants access to their unique buffs and technologies.

The world is procedurally generated, and while exploring locations, you can find dangerous bosses and clear dungeons. The developers also noted "unique resource management":

Lift, carry, and throw stones and logs. No fuss with inventory! Is the enemy advancing? Just throw a stone in their face!

The first reviews of Romestead are "mostly positive." One user who played the demo noted that "the game has become more casual," for example, it is now easier to gain the favor of the gods and items appear more frequently (they left a positive review).
