Bethesda Game Studios has announced the start of public testing for native versions of Fallout 76 for current-generation consoles. The tests will begin in June, with the full update release planned for late 2026.
All owners of the game on PlayStation and Xbox will be able to participate in the testing. To do this, it will be enough to download special test builds from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store digital storefronts.
Bethesda first announced the development of current-generation console versions back in October 2025. The update is intended for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X and should significantly improve the technical state of the multiplayer role-playing game.
Among the key changes, the developers highlight stable performance with a target of 60 frames per second on all current consoles, increased object draw distance, improved shadow quality, and support for higher resolution.
On Xbox Series X, Xbox One X, and PS5 Pro, the game will be able to run in 4K resolution with a compatible display. PS5 and PS4 Pro owners will get 1440p resolution support, while last-generation consoles will continue to use 1080p mode. In addition, Xbox Series S|X, PS5, and PS5 Pro will feature VRR technology support for smoother visuals on compatible screens.
