The Witcher 3: Songs of the Past Development Team Comparable to Wild Hunt
The announcement of the large-scale expansion Songs of the Past for The Witcher 3 generated significant interest among players. It has now been revealed that approximately 190 developers are working on the project - a number comparable to the team that created the original Wild Hunt.
For comparison, during the development of the base version of The Witcher 3, an average of about 160 people worked on the game, and the team only grew to 205 employees just before release.
According to CD Projekt's financial report, the main part of the work on the expansion is being carried out by Fool's Theory studio. At the same time, over 500 CD Projekt employees are busy creating The Witcher 4, more than 160 people are working on the new Cyberpunk, and other teams are developing the Sirius and Hadar projects.
As a result, likely no more than 19 people within CD Projekt are directly working on Songs of the Past. Their task is to control the creative direction of the project and ensure compliance with the established quality standards of the universe.
This approach should not cause concern among fans of the series. Fool's Theory employs industry veterans, many of whom participated in the creation of CD Projekt RED projects. The scale of the team also confirms the serious ambitions of the expansion, which is planned to be comparable in scope to "Blood and Wine".
