In an interview with IGN after the new gameplay video demonstration at the State of Play presentation, Marvel's Wolverine game director Mike Daly explained that a high level of violence is an important part of Wolverine's image and his long history in comics. However, the developers understand that such content is not suitable for all players.

According to Daly, the team initially provided a special function that allows disabling elements of cruelty. The system works selectively: it hides blood and some of the most naturalistic details, making the gameplay less shocking for users who prefer a softer presentation.

The developer noted that violence mechanics are deeply integrated into the gameplay, so the setting is implemented quite flexibly and affects only certain visual elements, without changing the game's structure itself.

It was previously reported that Marvel's Wolverine received a higher age rating compared to the Spider-Man games. The project has an M (17+) rating from the ESRB and 18+ according to the PEGI system, while Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received T (13+) and PEGI 16 ratings, respectively.
