Studio Bones is still working on the continuation of one of last year's main action hits.

Crunchyroll officially announced that the second season of the action anime "Gachiakuta" has begun production. Bones Film, a division of the renowned Bones studio known for "My Hero Academia" and "Mob Psycho 100," is responsible for the continuation. The decision to renew was made back in December 2025, but now the project has moved into the active production stage.

The first exclusive footage from the second season will be shown on July 3, 2026, at Anime Expo as part of a special panel "Gachiakuta: Return to the Abyss." Guests of the panel will include voice actor Aoi Ichikawa (the voice of the main character Rudo), director Fumihiko Suganuma, and producer Naoki Amano. They will personally present the first teaser trailer. The screening will be held behind closed doors, however, as is usually the case at such conventions, the first details and "screenings" will surely appear online on the same day.

The anime adaptation of Kei Urana's manga of the same name premiered in the summer of 2025 and, according to Kodansha, became the most-watched title of Crunchyroll's summer lineup. The plot tells the story of Rudo, a young man from the slums of a floating city, from where the rich dump garbage into a boundless abyss. After being falsely accused of murder, the hero is sent to the Abyss, where monsters born from human waste reside. To survive and take revenge, Rudo awakens a unique power and joins the mysterious organization of "Cleaners."

The full premiere date for the second season is still being kept secret. The first details are expected after the presentation in Los Angeles.
