Ahead of the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, new details have emerged about the highly anticipated State of Decay 3, as well as optimistic forecasts for Microsoft's entire presentation. According to journalist Jez Corden from Windows Central, the zombie action game from Undead Labs will not only appear at the show but will also demonstrate a significantly increased level of quality, corresponding to modern AAA projects.

Almost six years have passed since the announcement of State of Decay 3. In April, the developers opened registration for a closed alpha test, which took place in May with a limited number of players and some bloggers. According to Corden, feedback on the current version of the game is encouraging.

The journalist noted that the studio managed to achieve that very "AAA feel", which, in his opinion, was lacking in the previous installment of the series. He emphasized that he is particularly looking forward to the new project, as the developers, according to available information, have made significant progress in terms of execution quality and overall polish.

One of the main problems of the franchise has always been its technical roughness. For the first State of Decay, this was quite understandable: the game was originally created as a small project for Xbox Live Arcade when Undead Labs was still an independent studio. However, by the second installment, players had more questions, despite the fact that the gameplay formula itself received a lot of positive feedback.
