The creators of The Witcher 4 hinted at what the mysterious Project Hadar will be like
CD Projekt RED has revealed new details about Project Hadar, its first completely original universe. Judging by the studio's job postings, players can expect an emotional open-world adventure with a strong emphasis on narrative.
Project Hadar was announced in 2022. At that time, the project was in its early stages of development. CDPR emphasized that it was not a licensed franchise, but a new universe created within the studio.
Now, one of the job postings mentions working on “the next exciting game in the Hadar universe” and creating “an emotional open-world experience that will stay with players for a long time.” The wording hints at a focus on story, choices, and deep immersion in the game world.
This is not the first time CD Projekt RED has used the word “emotional” in describing Project Hadar. Similar mentions have previously appeared in job postings for quest designers. This may indicate that the plot and relationships between characters will play as important a role as in The Witcher and Cyberpunk series.
So far, the studio has not revealed the project's structure, but new data points to an open world. After Night City and the world of The Witcher, the developers are likely creating another large-scale game universe.
A full reveal is still a long way off. According to the latest data, 24 people are working on Project Hadar. For comparison: The Witcher 4 team consists of 513 developers, Cyberpunk 2 – 163 specialists, and Project Sirius – 83 employees.
