God of War Laufey Creators Combined Ideas from Greek and Norse Sagas

After showcasing 20 minutes of God of War Laufey gameplay, Santa Monica Studio continues to reveal details about the game. This time, the developers and actress Deborah Ann Woll discussed the differences between Faye and Kratos.

In a video dedicated to the cast, the actress playing Faye spoke positively about the main character of previous installments.

Kratos' gameplay is magnificent.

According to the actress, Kratos relies on brute destructive force and heavy blows, which made the battles particularly spectacular. However, Faye also remains an outstanding warrior, but her strengths are completely different. The heroine is characterized by high mobility and acrobatics, and her fighting style resembles a dance with constant spins, jumps, and aerial moves.

Project director Ariel Lawrence confirmed that Faye's combat system was created with the entire series' history in mind. The developers were inspired not only by the latest games but also by the classic God of War titles set in Greece, where battles were faster and more reminiscent of hack-and-slash.

According to Lawrence, the studio aimed to combine the aerial dynamics of the early installments with the tough close-quarters combat characteristic of the Norse saga.
