Torchlight Studios announced the release of the demo version of False Hero — an unusual soulslike with retro visual style and an original combat system.

The main feature of the project is the ability to steal enemy attacks and use them in your own combinations. Instead of the genre's usual emphasis on dodges, parries, and counterattacks, players will have to experiment with stolen abilities, choosing the most effective combinations for each battle.

The development of False Hero took six years and was carried out by virtually one person. The game's creator was solely responsible for all aspects of production — from programming and design to animations, musical accompaniment, and artistic design.

The game's events unfold in the grim fantasy world of Wisdom — a dying mountain kingdom where the gods of Life are gradually losing their power, and the influence of Death is growing stronger. The player will take on the role of the shell of a former scientist, who is prophesied to stop an ancient evil. However, the plot will allow you to decide the fate of the world yourself: fulfill the prophecy or join the forces of Death and become its apostle.

The full release of the game will take place in autumn 2026 on PC.
