The Swedish studio Dead Astronauts, founded by former developers from Epic Games and Massive Entertainment, has unveiled its debut project HAEX. It is a sci-fi cooperative first-person survival simulator with a procedurally generated open world, designed for single-player or a team of up to four people.

The plot tells the story of a scientific group that went to explore an alien anomaly in the northern subarctic zone and disappeared without a trace in a paranormal fog. Players will have to survive in the wild, monitor body temperature, hunger, and thirst, search for surviving scientists, and confront dangerous creatures and machines.

The main features of HAEX will be an advanced weapon customization system for different combat styles and an intelligent cube companion. This gadget helps collect resources and, as it improves, unlocks access to powerful alien abilities. Players will also be able to transform frosty plains by planting found alien seeds. They change the structure of the environment, open passages to unique zones and rare materials, but at the same time attract new threats.

HAEX is scheduled for release in 2027 on PC via Steam and Epic Games Store in early access. The project will spend 12 to 18 months in early access and will evolve based on community feedback.
