Attention was drawn to The End of the Sun, but not in the way originally intended.

Recently, GOG decided to promote The End of the Sun, but something went wrong. Subscribers received emails with a subject line that included a set of symbols.

The runes were combined in such a way that the "sun" sign was surrounded on one side by a symbol resembling a swastika, and on the other side were two characteristic lightning bolts. This caused outrage among some users.

GOG reacted and apologized for the mailing:

We made a number of mistakes: we created an unfortunate visual association due to incorrect rune placement, used the wrong logo for The End of the Sun, did not check how the email was displayed on mobile devices (where it looked even worse), and also did not transfer the comments of the German testing team to other languages. Approximately half of our database received the email, but we stopped the mailing as soon as we noticed the error. We are now reviewing the verification process to add more control stages and identify such errors earlier.

In The End of the Sun, the player takes on the role of a Priest – a Slavic fire mage and tracker:

You arrive in a village where reality has been distorted, and the villagers have left behind only smoldering fires. Thanks to your ability to connect with fire, you see what is hidden from others – traces, mythical creatures, and spirits of long-past events. Will you be able to use your powers to stop ancient forces and change the fate of the inhabitants?
