At Summer Game Fest 2026, one of the most striking announcements was the adventure action game Blood Message from NetEase and 24 Entertainment. At the time, the developers limited themselves to showing a cinematic trailer and promised to reveal more about the game later. Today, the studio fulfilled its promise by releasing over nineteen minutes of gameplay.
Judging by the footage shown, Blood Message's structure and overall spirit resemble a mix of Ghost of Tsushima and cinematic adventure action games in the vein of Uncharted. The gameplay combines exploration of locations, set pieces, chases, stealth, and brutal combat that blends sword fighting and hand-to-hand combat.
The game's plot is inspired by a real historical event — the Dunhuang rebellion. The action takes place in 848, at the twilight of the Chinese Tang dynasty. The main characters are an unnamed messenger and his young son. They must overcome a dangerous thousand-mile journey through the deserts and wild forests of Central Asia to deliver a critically important message to the imperial capital, capable of saving their homeland.
Blood Message is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 for PC and current-generation consoles. The project does not yet have a precise release date.
