Kwalee and Flyos have unveiled Vampire: The Masquerade – ETERNAL WHISPERS – a new role-playing game set in the World of Darkness universe. The project will be released on PC via Steam, but the release date has not yet been disclosed.
The developers describe the game as an atmospheric CRPG with a strong emphasis on narrative, investigations, and the consequences of player choices. According to Flyos co-founder and creative director Gary Peitr, the team aims to create a project at the intersection of classic role-playing games and modern narrative works like Disco Elysium.
I have been playing Vampire: The Masquerade for over 25 years. This universe, its themes, and stories have been with me for most of my life. This passion first led to the creation of the tabletop game Vampire: The Masquerade – CHAPTERS, and then became the driving force behind the development of ETERNAL WHISPERS.
The game's events unfold in Montreal, where, after the disappearance of the Sabbat, power has shifted to new forces operating from the shadows.
Players will take on the role of a vampire named Gabe, who awakens after decades of torpor with fragmented memories and secrets from the past.
Together with his thin-blooded companion Sam, the hero will begin an investigation related to a runaway ghoul, but will soon find himself embroiled in a large-scale conspiracy surrounding the Temple of Eternal Whispers – a massive underground cathedral dedicated to a forbidden faith. As the story progresses, players will be able to uncover forgotten secrets of the Sabbat, learn the truth about the protagonist's past, and confront an ancient force capable of forever changing Montreal's vampire society.
