Creative Assembly studio presented new footage of Total War: Warhammer 40,000. The developers of the new global strategy offered players a look at large army battles and also showcased various biomes. They immediately clarified that the footage was taken from an alpha build of the game, meaning it does not reflect the final quality of the content.
Project Art Director Kevin Mcdowell spoke about the approach to creating game worlds:
We look at all the details of the different world types represented in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. We have hive worlds, agri-worlds, mining worlds, frontier worlds. And on top of that, there are diverse biomes. So we can have, for example, ice or arid mining worlds. Ultimately, we developed a system for creating planets.

The developer continued his story and shared additional information about the design of hive worlds:
When it comes to hive worlds, we want to do two things. First, we want the planets themselves to look like hive worlds — with huge, cathedral-like cities, as if we are inside a cathedral, with cities reaching into the sky, through the clouds, and with the entire planet's surface covered in urban development. Second, we want the battlefields to match the visual appearance of the planet itself.
