Recently, the gaming community once again sparked a discussion about the potential return of The Simpsons: Hit & Run. The reason for this new round of discussions was a statement by a VGC (Video Games Chronicle) journalist.
Jordan Middler hinted that after the announcement of a new Spyro, other classic franchises/projects from Activision's catalog might also return.
In a recent episode of the "VGC: The Video Game Podcast," he stated that "that very game" that many dream of is currently being prepared for a comeback:
I think Activision's next step – and they're already doing this with one very important project – is to try and bring back some of the licensed games. For example, releasing new versions of these games that were created under license. The one that everyone is literally desperately dreaming of is already in development. So, I think that's exactly what they can capitalize on. Everyone is constantly saying, "Oh, we need a new Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and all those 'mid-tier' games that [Activision] used to release."
An additional hint specifically for The Simpsons: Hit & Run is the final phrase with which the journalist concluded the podcast – he said that the team was going to "hit and run."
Rumors about the return of The Simpsons: Hit & Run have been circulating online for many years. Earlier this year, the game's writer admitted that it might indeed return someday.
