8 Years Waiting for The Elder Scrolls VI - Bethesda Showed Nothing Again

Eight years have passed since the announcement of The Elder Scrolls 6, but Bethesda still hasn't shown the game. At Xbox Games Showcase 2026, fans once again hoped for news, but the studio presented no new materials.

The first teaser for the project was shown back at E3 2018. Since then, there has been no full trailer, no gameplay, and no new official details. In 8 years, the game has not received any public progress in its showings.

At the current presentation, Bethesda limited itself to mentioning already known projects – The Elder Scrolls Online and Fallout 76. There was no news about the new installment of the series.

This caused a wave of disappointment online. Reddit users write that they are tired of waiting for the game, and some joke that they will retire before the new installment is released.

Earlier, Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard stated that the announcement was made too early and players should "forget" about the project for a while. He also emphasized that the release remains a distant prospect.

The reason for the delay is that Starfield and its support were the studio's main project for a long time. Only after that did resources gradually begin to shift to the development of the new installment of The Elder Scrolls.

Despite the criticism, Bethesda does not plan to abandon the series.
