Square Enix Reminds of Kingdom Hearts 4's Existence and Announces Release Date for Kingdom Hearts Collection on Switch 2

During the Nintendo Direct held on June 9, Square Enix showcased Kingdom Hearts 4 and also announced the release of the extensive Kingdom Hearts Collection on Nintendo Switch 2.

Kingdom Hearts 4 was first unveiled in 2022, but after the debut trailer, information about the game appeared very rarely. In recent years, fans have only seen a few concept arts and heard Square Enix's assurances that development is on track. Now, the developers have shown a new trailer, confirming active work on the project.

The exact release date for Kingdom Hearts 4 has not yet been revealed. However, it became known that the game will be released not only on Nintendo Switch 2 but also on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Much more specific information was available for another announcement. Square Enix announced that Kingdom Hearts Collection, the most complete collection of games in the franchise, will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on October 8. Console owners can already download a demo version, which will allow them to get acquainted with fragments of Kingdom Hearts III: the first part of the demo starts from the very beginning of the game, and the second takes players to a later stage of the adventure.

The collection will include almost all key projects of the series and additional content:

  • Kingdom Hearts Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories
  • Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days (in HD cutscene compilation format)
  • Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Final Mix
  • Kingdom Hearts Re:coded (HD cutscene compilation)
  • Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD
  • Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover
  • Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep
  • Kingdom Hearts III;
  • Re Mind DLC

Some materials will only be available in digital format, but the Kingdom Hearts Collection itself will be sold in both digital and physical versions.
