Ubisoft continues to downsize its divisions. As reported by Insider Gaming, the publisher has decided to close the Ubisoft Winnipeg studio, which will lead to the layoff of dozens of employees.

According to the publication's sources, employees learned about the office closure on Wednesday morning during a meeting with management. Details of the decision have not yet been disclosed, but it is reported that approximately 85 people will lose their jobs.

The studio closure will also affect a number of current Ubisoft projects and other company divisions, including Ubisoft Montreal. Sources claim that about 120 employees involved in the development of Rainbow Six Siege have been transferred to other areas. Another 50 people have stopped working on Rainbow Six Siege Mobile and an unannounced project. However, Insider Gaming's interlocutors emphasize that there is no talk of additional layoffs yet.

Ubisoft Winnipeg was opened in 2018 as a support studio specializing in creating open-world games. Over the years, the team participated in the development of games such as Rainbow Six Siege, XDefiant, Far Cry 6, and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Since the beginning of the year, Ubisoft has already closed Ubisoft Halifax and Ubisoft Stockholm.
