Recently, Square Enix reminded players about the Kingdom Hearts franchise. During a Nintendo presentation, it showed a promo for the fourth main installment and also talked about a collection of games in the series — the Kingdom Hearts Collection is expected to be released in a few months.
However, many gamers' attention was drawn to a completely different announcement. Square Enix also announced the discontinuation of sales of Cloud (cloud) versions of Kingdom Hearts series games for the Nintendo Switch console.
While owners retain access to these games, in June 2027, "service will be completely terminated" — it will no longer be possible to play them.
List of affected games:
- KINGDOM HEARTS - HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX Cloud Version
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue Cloud Version
- KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) Cloud Version
- KINGDOM HEARTS INTEGRUM MASTERPIECE for Cloud
Square Enix support stated that owners of "cloud" versions will be able to purchase the games at a reduced price.
This discount applies only to the digital version corresponding to the players' existing "cloud" version:
- KINGDOM HEARTS - HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX - (version for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2)
- KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue (version for Nintendo Switch 2)
- KINGDOM HEARTS III + Re Mind (DLC) (version for Nintendo Switch 2)
- KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] (version for Nintendo Switch 2)
