Renowned Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman reported that Blade will play a big role in Marvel's upcoming team-up crossover "Midnight Sons." However, the main intrigue surrounding this project now is who exactly will portray the iconic vampire hunter.

Formally, the role of Blade in the cinematic universe is still assigned to Mahershala Ali. At the same time, the protracted problems of his solo film, which has been stuck in production hell since 2019, having gone through six screenwriters and two directors, are causing serious concerns for the studio's management.

Against this backdrop, the enthusiastic audience reaction to Wesley Snipes' return in the blockbuster "Deadpool & Wolverine" has sparked a lot of new speculation. It is rumored that Marvel is even considering a multiverse storyline that would allow both versions of the character to be used simultaneously.

Mahershala Ali himself has repeatedly emphasized that he does not plan to give up the role. Last year, the actor stated his full readiness for filming, although he admitted that he did not know what stage of production the project was currently at.

Although an official announcement of "Midnight Sons" from Marvel Studios has not yet been made, Kevin Feige has repeatedly hinted at the inevitability of such a crossover. According to insiders from The Cosmic Circus, the core of the future superhero team will consist of characters already familiar to viewers, including Wong, Moon Knight, Werewolf by Night, Man-Thing, and Ghost Rider. As potential directors for the crossover, the studio is actively considering Michael Giacchino, who directed "Werewolf by Night," and Fede Álvarez, who directed the horror film "Alien: Romulus."
