There is a lot of conflicting information surrounding Microsoft's publishing strategy. According to rumors, the company almost abandoned the release of Fable and Halo Campaign Evolved on PS5.

According to insider Double-Barrel Gaming, Xbox brand head Asha Sharma allegedly advocated for canceling the PS5 versions of Fable and Halo Campaign Evolved. She reportedly wanted to keep both franchises as fully exclusive projects for the Xbox ecosystem.

However, this plan, according to the source, could not be implemented due to financial reasons. Previously concluded agreements with Sony contained strict termination clauses. The penalties for refusing to release games on PlayStation turned out to be so high that it was more profitable for Microsoft to fulfill its initial obligations.

Head of Marketing Aaron Greenberg recently clarified that the company did not intend to make Gears of War: E-Day an exclusive until the last moment, but this was kept secret from most Xbox users. It seems Xbox will keep its plans under wraps in the near future.
