Halo Campaign Evolved Tests Show 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and Issues on Handheld Devices
With less than two months until the release of Halo Campaign Evolved, the first technical tests of the pre-release version of the game have appeared online. According to Digital Foundry, the Xbox Series X provides a stable 60 frames per second, while handheld devices are experiencing serious difficulties.
Digital Foundry specialists tested the game on Xbox Series X and PC. On Microsoft's flagship console, the project runs at a locked 60 FPS in performance mode.
This result is particularly noteworthy given the use of Unreal Engine and hardware ray tracing. To maintain a stable frame rate, developers use dynamic resolution scaling, which usually hovers around 1080p, maintaining a sharp image.
Developers reduce the quality of transparency effects in the most demanding scenes to maintain performance without noticeable degradation of graphics. The Xbox Series S version has not yet received sufficient optimization and has not been provided for testing.
On handheld devices, the situation is significantly worse. Tests on ROG Ally X showed only 30–40 FPS at minimum graphics settings. According to Digital Foundry experts, achieving a stable 30 frames per second on Steam Deck may prove extremely difficult.
