The creators of the truck driver simulators Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator presented a new dev diary dedicated to the creation of the Multi-Function Display (MFD).

The idea is to offer players a more unified and intuitive way to access truck functions directly in the game, without having to interrupt gameplay or "memorize dozens of keys."

The in-game MFD interface will be available when playing from the cabin view, as well as with an external camera. Through it, you can switch between various categories and vehicle systems, such as: "driving assistants, lighting control, vehicle settings, multimedia functions, trip information, and much more":

One of the main goals of this system is to reduce distractions when accessing vehicle systems and information. In most cases, opening the MFD will not pause the game, and vehicle control will remain responsive during interaction.

The developers clarified that the MFD is currently "in the active prototyping stage":

While the main direction and functionality are already taking shape, many details may change as further internal testing and feedback collection occur in later stages of development. We are very excited about the possibilities this system opens up – not only for trucks, but also for other types of vehicles in the future.
