Dark clouds are gathering over the gaming industry: after recent layoffs and studio closures within Xbox, the market may face a much larger wave of job cuts. This was stated by French journalist Sylvain Trinel.

According to Trinel, Xbox's current problems are just the beginning of a much more serious crisis. Commenting on the situation surrounding Microsoft Gaming, where several studios risk ceasing to exist, the journalist called what is happening "just the beginning of a massive slaughter among studios owned by major publishers."

He noted that alarming signals are already coming from French companies Don't Nod and Quantic Dream. It was previously reported that Don't Nod is experiencing financial difficulties and is seeking additional funding for its current project, while Quantic Dream has faced production problems in several areas.

Trinel called the situation "a catastrophe" and added that the problems could affect other well-known teams. In particular, he advised paying attention to the situation within id Software, Bethesda, and BioWare. According to him, the information he managed to obtain from sources is "far from encouraging."

Sony also did not stay out of it. Despite the company owning some of the most successful gaming teams in the world, Trinel hinted that even this does not guarantee the safety of all internal PlayStation divisions. Answering a question about Bungie and the troubled shooter Marathon, the journalist wrote that it is worth closely monitoring July, although it may not be about the studios mentioned directly in the question.
